Winter Break Activities in Lockport

Winter break is just around the corner! Looking for something fun and exciting to do with your children in Lockport? We've got you covered! Check out these great ideas below to plan an unforgettable winter vacation filled with laughter, joy, and special moments for your family.

The Historic Palace Theatre

Catch a movie at the Historic Palace Theatre! Don’t miss Wicked (rated PG), a box office favorite, playing from December 27th through January 9th. Admission is $10 adults, $7 ages 12 and under. Tickets available at the box office 30 minutes before showtime.

Plus, the Palace is offering FREE showings of A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and Elf, sponsored by Lockport Schools and Community FCU throughout the week.

The Lockport Public Library

The Lockport Public Library will host some fun events in the Orchard Room on Floor 1 during winter break. All ages are welcome and no registration is required for the following events:

  • Thursday, December 26th from 10am to 3pm: Free Drop-in Craft

  • Friday, December 27 from 10:00am - 10:45am: Story & Craft

  • Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 11:00am - 11:45am: Story & Craft

While at the Lockport Public Library, enjoy their self-guided art tour. Grab a pamphlet at the counter and explore over fifty pieces of artwork spread out on all three floors. You’ll find work by prominent local artists, historic works, and works of local interest.


JT Sports & Recreation 

Children ages 12 to 17 can stop by JT Sports & Recreation  at 30 Pine Street on Monday, Dec 23rd, Thursday, Dec 26th, and Friday, Dec 27th from 3PM to 5PM for their free after school program through Lockport Spokes. TOYS from LO & LO'S ARCADE MANIA

Have fun at TOYS from LO & LO'S Arcade MANIA! Enjoy the ONLY arcade in Lockport, snack on popcorn, pretzels, and more, and browse video games and toys. Stop on by at 54 Pine Street in the city of Lockport!


Niagara County Family Opportunity Center 

Stop by the Niagara County Family Opportunity Center at 175 Walnut Street, Suite 5 for Open Play on Monday, December 23rd from 9am to noon. Free to Niagara County residents.


Casual Dragon Games

Enjoy activities all week long at Casual Dragon Games at 136 Walnut Street! There’s so much to do including the Pokemon League Cup Event on December 28th. On the last Saturdays of each month, in addition to open play, Casual Dragon Games hosts League Cups, where for $5 entry you can experience a swiss-style tournament event to earn points towards playing in larger championships, and earn promos and prizes both for attending and coming out on top! Learn the rhythm of the game and play against a variety of play styles and deck types, trade with other players, and improve your deck building skills.

The Erie Canal Discovery Center

Visit the Erie Canal Discovery Center to learn more about the history of Lockport and the Erie Canal through artifacts, displays, and interactive exhibits. The museum is open in December on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM. Admission for the Erie Canal Discovery Center is $6 for adults (kids are free with parent or guardian), or $5 for Seniors, AAA/CAA members, and veterans. A Blue Star Museum – active duty U.S. and Canadian military personnel and their dependents are free.
